Naperville (Chicago), CA
Heart Zones Blue Shirt and
Blue Jersey Trainer
Blue Jersey and Blue Shirt Trainer, Bev Ehlebracht was introduced to Heart Zones Training through a training group called the "Tri-Babes", several years ago while training for a triathlon. Led by coaches Sue Welker and Kathy Kent, the group was a natural to learn about heart rate monitoring throughout their training sessions. Bev, a participant in that group and several groups since, has begun a journey of her own, creating her own personal training business, centered around Heart Zones Training.
Bev got her Heart Zones Blue Shirt Personal Trainer certification first, because she knew that she wanted to work with individuals one-on-one. She followed up with a nationally recognized ACE Personal Trainer certification. And, when the opportunity arose to earn additional income by teaching indoor cycling, she got her Blue Jersey certification.
In March, 2006, Heart Zones Cycling and Personal Training was contacted by the Chicago Bike Show to do some short seminars on heart rate monitors and training. As in previous years', Bev was able to negotiate free booth space in exchange for 2-1 hour talks. At the booth, Bev was able to sell books and heart rate monitors. Bev was able to sell over $1,400 worth of merchandise that weekend. More importantly, Bev collected emails (permission based) from participants who were interested in further information about Heart Zones and training. These contacts can produce additional personal training income in the future.
Bev has also led a 5K Run/Walk group using the Heart Zones 5K Run/Walk Training Program and has plans to lead both another run/walk group this fall in addition to the indoor cycling group ride (Heart Zones® Group Cycling program) at a local facility.
Bev enjoys this "niche" and is very much interested in continuing to develop the market for heart rate monitoring and training.
